MyCool Music Foundation

2025 is proving to be a great year for the MyCool Music Foundation. We’ve continued to support and fund various organisations and projects, giving over £6,000 in grants.

We have had the privilege of supporting excellent projects like “The Boury Academy” https://www.thebouryacademy.co.uk an award-winning performing arts group that’s a cornerstone in the community in South East London. They believe that every child should have access to performing arts regardless of parental income.

Also, “Sing2Breathe” helping those with lung and breathing issues and “Bringing Music to the Wards of The Maudsley”  a project focused on improving mental health through singing.

This year’s successful applicants are projects that are exemplary examples promoting health and well-being through singing and music.

We proudly support them and many more to ensure great projects like these continue to grow and serve as many people as possible.

As we move forward into the end of summer, we have an exciting community event about to take place.  An inspiring mass choir concert featuring over 100 singers.

NHS virtual choir hits the charts

In response to the current coronavirus pandemic the MyCool Music Foundation, in partnership with Breathe Arts Health Research, created an International Virtual Choir Recording of Mariah Carey's hit "Anytime You Need A Friend" bringing together the Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS choir and singers from all other the world - from USA, Canada, Greece, Australia, Italy and of course Barbados.

Virtual rehearsals were held online and then the singers recorded their harmonies on mobile phones and sent them in along with videos of themselves singing.

The video has been viewed more than 65K times and had extensive coverage in the global media with Mariah Carey tweeting it "brought me to tears."

The purpose of this project was threefold:

1) to show support for our NHS and global frontline workers, some of which are singing on the song

2) in a time where many people are isolated and feeling fearful, I wanted to create something that would connect people and bring countries together and be a positive focus

3) to inspire and give hope to those who listen to the song and watch the video whether it be doctors and nurses, supermarket workers, families separated by the lockdown, people who have lost loved ones, battling with this awful disease....

The single is released on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify with all proceeds going to support the NHS staff, patients and wider community.
